Ozempic®

The active ingredient in Ozempic® is semaglutide. It helps your body lower blood sugar levels only when blood sugar is too high, and it can help prevent heart disease.

Ozempic® is used as a stand-alone treatment when you are not allowed to take metformin (another diabetes medicine).

Ozempic® is used with other diabetes medicines if they are insufficient to regulate your blood sugar levels. These other medicines may include:

oral (oral) antidiabetic drugs (such as metformin, thiazolidinediones, sulphonylurea derivatives) or insulin. It is important that you continue with your diet and exercise as you have been told by your doctor, pharmacist or nurse.
