Acne treatment

What is acne?

Acne is a common skin condition characterised by the formation of pimples, blackheads (comedones), pimples and sometimes even cysts on the skin. It usually affects the face, chest, back and shoulders, as these areas have a high number of sebaceous glands. Acne occurs when hair follicles become clogged with sebum and dead skin cells. Bacteria, especially Propionibacterium acnes, can multiply in these clogged hair follicles and cause inflammation. The causes of acne are diverse and can range from genetics and hormonal changes to stress and certain cosmetics.

What treatments are available for acne?

At our place, acne therapy is performed by our HBO-trained skin therapists. Acne therapy is a specialised medical treatment aimed at reducing and controlling acne. This involves looking at the influencing factors of acne such as hormones, stress, product use and diet. The treatment consists of a manual deep cleansing of the skin combined with a Dermaceutic medical chemical peel. The number of treatments is adapted to the severity of the acne, but also to the type of acne. This is discussed in detail with you during the free intake. In addition, this therapy is usually reimbursed from the supplementary insurance. Ask your health insurer for more information.
