Eyebrow lift
What is a brow lift?
In young people who do not yet have skin folds above the eyebrows, this procedure is usually not an option because of the scar that is left behind. But when a person already naturally has deeper skin folds above the eyebrows, the scar can be hidden in this skin fold just fine. For optimal results, eyebrow lift is often combined with correction of the upper and/or lower eyelids.
Treatment
Before treatment, photographs are taken for your medical records. A brow lift is usually performed under local anaesthetic. An incision about five centimetres above each eyebrow is made. The skin is then loosened subcutaneously up to the eyebrow. The skin is now smoothed and tightened until the eyebrow is at the correct height. The excess skin is removed and the incision is sutured. The procedure itself takes a maximum of an hour, while preparation for the procedure takes about half an hour.
The anaesthetic
A brow lift is usually performed under local anaesthesia. At your request, this procedure can also be performed under sedation. With sedation, you are put to sleep, just like with anaesthesia. However, the difference with an anaesthetic is that you can always be easily woken up during the procedure while still having excellent pain relief. The main advantage of sedation is that you are fit and can go home soon after the procedure. Your doctor will discuss with you what is the best option for you.
